Frequently Asked Questions
I've never shot a match before, how do I get started?
Come out to a match. There are plenty of opportunities to watch an Indoor Match if South River Gun Club is too far. If you have not seen the new shooter's briefing, you will receive that briefing at your first match and be assigned an experienced shooter who will help you through the match.
Our Monthly Outdoor Match starts at 10:00 am. However, you have to come early to check in. Check-in starts at 9:00 am and ends promptly at 9:45 am. New shooter briefing is at 9:30 am. Plan on the match lasting 4 to 5 hours.
Each Indoor Match has its own schedule and dates. Check each page to find out the details.
Do I have to be a member of South River Gun Club to shoot a match?
No, you do not.
How many rounds of ammo should I bring?
Bring 200 rounds for the Outdoor Match. Bring 75 for an Indoor Match.
I'm a minor and want to come out to my first match. If my father or mother accompanies me, would I be able to enter the match?
Yes, minors 12 and up can shoot our matches as long as a parent or legal guardian remain with them at all times.
